We currently charge under the rate recommended by the Musicians' Union, The Society of Music Masters' & Mistress', the Incorporated Society of Musicians [ISM]* and Barclays Bank.

The 'fees charged are determined by demand, the standard being taught where the lessons take place... a private teaching rate of £18.60 per hour ... amateur ... being largely self-taught and offering lessons as a sideline rather than as a serious profession ... Experience and qualifications can allow a tutor to charge a higher rate ... this is matched by an equally high standard of services ... a strong reputation, will enable the tutor to charge more for lessons and be more selective in accepting new students ... commercial premises rather than the home ..." Upon the advice of the Legal Department of the Musicians Union summer 1999 Martin was told to charge a minimum of £37.50 per hour for his expertise, if not £50. Obviously, not every talented young musician or their parents can afford to pay it's worth. Therefore, for the status Martin holds, at an average of £30 per hour, he is still very much under the rate, but refuses to charge any more than that under contract.

The following prices are in British Sterling.

Students who begin with Summer School have priority on Autumn enrolment lists.

Stix School bases all lessons at a general rate adopted in the beginning of 2000 which was projected to make annual increases of 2.5% to 5% per year. Experience has shown us that is it not always desirable to do so. Therefore we now base our fees on the monthly rate charged for 2005. This is payable over 12 months, per term which can vary over the amount of weeks, every three months, twice a year or one annual payment.

 * Maximum age of 10 years. Must go to half hour after 6 months. We are not currently members of the ISM
