Welcome to the Eighties....

Out of the Disco Saturday Night and into Hair Metal, Flashdance and the beginning of a New Era.

Party over ..... time to work

So where did the hair go?

One night in 1985, whilst working as a Freelance Artist, Martin was approached to become a "Drummer Exclusive". The group?  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Stars, The Drifters with originals Johnny Moore and Ben E King.  The gig went well into the 90's.

Martin gained much status during the 1980's getting global recognition. It was in 1989 that during the 10 months "on the road", he performed 287 concerts world wide!  He became an endorser for Zildjian Cymbals, Sonor Drums, Pearl Drums, Premier Drums, Alligator Amplification, Gibralter Hardware, Standsafe, Le Blonde Cases and also Simmons Electronic Drums (new inovation the SDS7).  It was Simmons who rated Martin as one of Britain's Top Ten drummers!  Although Exclusive to The Drifter's he was constantly covered by the media, attended conventions, and constant presence of the companies he endorsed.

Then along came the numerous interviews with television, radio, magazines and newspapers.  Autographs and no where to hide and even family life became public.  So much so that even the announcement that he would be a father again in 1991 was made at a concert at the Beck Theatre!
