Fantastically Equipped Professional Gear and air-conditioned Drum Studio in Town Centre
When you park in Ampthill Town Centre and come down "the Yard" as it is known locally, tucked away from the High Street traffic, you will find our studio just opposite of Tavistock Motors.
[parking in their forecourt is available after 6pm and all day on Sunday]
Ampthill is quaint and our studio is what ampthill is... unique in it's own right. Our premises are not a recording studio for bands or a huge campus, but rather, an especially equipped soundproof room for learning and recording DRUMS with an office/reception room.
Inside you will find a full size Pearl Custom GLX drumkit, that was used by Martin whilst endorsing Pearl (Phil Collins is the only other drummer at that time to have one), there ore no practice kits in our studio, but drums of the highest professional standards!

Emma Norfolk, student of Stix from childhood to teen
This is accompanied by another full size Sonorlite kit [again a kit of professional Artists Martin endorsed when Sonor first brought it to the UK] with Zildjian and pro series cymbals.

BOTH kits are fitted with a DOUBLE BASS DRUM PEDAL which when you look at the YouTube Videos, students take full advantage of Martin's Technique!
The latest in sound technology for recording each of your lessons using a Studiomaster mixing desk to cassette, minidisk, video and now DVD. [additional charges may apply]
In more detail, the studio is well equipped with everything needed for good tuition whether you are a complete beginner or a more advance student. Once more it is also airconditioned for those one or two days a year Britain gets hot but also cosy and warm when the blizzards hit.
The studio's Pearl GLX is a maple kit for the students use and the the master kit is a Sonor birch. The full sound system (with monitors and headphones) including microphones on every kit to enable the kits to be studio mixed with the audio sound source for excellent sound quality recordings on either cassette tape or minidisk.
As well as the studio having the persona of a recording facility, it also has a classroom feel for the theory part of the lesson (professionally printed, not handwritten) to enhance the student's knowledge of what he or she is playing and the safety aspects of drumming such as posture. There is a practise pad for close up demonstrations of rudiments and muscle building techniques etc.
The Reception area is for students waiting for a lesson or parents who want to wait and observe their son's or daughter's lesson on the CCTV. Complimentary coffee.
Christopher and Nathan..... Martin's two youngest children Chris is now nearly 17 and has become, like his father and grandfather before him a drummer and member of the musicians union. You may see him teaching in the future.
